Website Development FAQs
Do I really need a website?
Unless you already have all the customers you’ll ever need, you need to have a website. The internet has almost completely replaced the phone directory as a means for finding businesses. When someone needs a service, they search the internet. If you want to be found, you need to be there when they search.
Can't I just build a website myself?
The short answer is yes, you certainly can build a website yourself. There are many tools on the internet for DIY websites like WIX, WEB.com, Weebly, and many more. To build a professional looking site that performs well for your business, you’ll need knowledge and a whole lot of time. You’ll need to know things like how to optimize your content for search engines, and how to make your website responsive so it’s usable on a wide variety of devices. Making the decision to do it yourself can work, but only if you are willing to spend the hours needed to learn the skills you’ll need.
What will I need to provide to get started?
After your initial consultation, we will provide a list of assets and content we will need for your project. These items will include the graphics and copy for your pages. The graphics will of course include your logo, pictures, and any stock images that you may want included. Copy will include all of the text that you want incorporated into each page. We do offer copy writing service for those who do not want to do their own writing.
How much will it cost to have you build our website?
Website development can vary quite a bit from one project to another. Every project is a little different and the time required to complete each website varies. We can give a rough estimate of the range of cost for various project types. Basic Personal Websites of 3 to 5 pages will range from $500 – $1,200. Small Business Websites of 5 to 10 pages will range from $1,000 – $2,500. eCommerce Websites will range from $2,000 – $5,000. Complex business sites will range from $5,000 and up
How long will it take to develop our website?
As with price, time will vary a lot. Very basic sites can take 2 – 3 weeks whereas complex sites can take months. We will include a projected timeline for your project with your proposal.
Will I have to pay for everything at once or do you finance your website development projects?
We use a gradual pay system for our website development projects. Your proposal will include a deposit amount that is paid upon acceptance and signing of your project proposal. The remainder is paid throughout the process as various milestones are reached. Final payment is due before your website goes live.
Do I have to host my website with JD Website Development?
No. You can host your website with any company you choose. We will develop your website on our server and then upload your project to your host upon completion.
Are there any ongoing costs after my project is completed?
Other than hosting, which is not part of the development cost, there are no ongoing costs once your project is completed.
