So What Does Divi 3.0 and the New Visual Builder Have to Offer?
The wait is over and Elegant Themes has finally released the newest version of their Divi Theme, Divi 3.0. I’ve been testing this theme for several weeks and I have to say, it’s everything Elegant Themes has been promising. So what’s changed with this new version of Divi? Let’s take a look.
The backbone of Divi has always been the Divi Builder, a tool offering a neatly organized drag and drop layout system, the ability to import and export layouts and other settings, and the ability to easily add custom CSS to individual modules. While there are some minor changes to the Divi Builder, the long awaited hero of Divi 3.0 is the new Visual Builder. The Divi Visual Builder is like the Divi Builder on steroids and it is a game changer for WordPress Developers. So what makes this Divi 3.0 Visual Builder so special? I’m glad you asked.
I had my first look at the visual builder about three weeks ago and the first thing I noticed was the speed. The Divi 3.0 Visual Builder is the fastest visual web page builder I’ve ever used. This amazing tool allows you to make changes on the front end of your website and see your changes in real time! Background colors of sections, fonts, font sizes, images, can all be changed on the fly and while viewing the front end of the website. The visual builder also allows the dragging of sections, rows, and individual modules to various positions on the page. Add and delete sections, rows, and modules with the visual builder and see these changes as you make them. With Divi 3.0 you can even click-drag to change things like margins and padding within your page elements. Even custom CSS is rendered in real time, which I found to be amazing.
Does Divi 3.0 and the new Visual Builder completely eliminate the need for coding? Of course not. I found that I still needed to write some CSS, and of course there will always be the need for web developers to write the occasional java script in various custom applications. What Divi 3.0 and the visual builder does, is add a new tool to the arsenal of WordPress developers. Like most developers, I’m still learning to integrate this new tool into my workflow. As my comfort level increases, I’m finding that there are some things that I like to do in the visual builder, and some things I don’t. Considering the fact that the visual builder is brand new, I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. Congratulations to Nick Roach and Elegant Themes on what I believe is the most innovative front end site builder I have seen to date. Divi 3.0 is an absolute “must see” tool for every WordPress developer.
